About Jeff Jones

I’d always wanted to be an author but somehow ended up working in the Financial Services sector. When I was made redundant for a third time, I finally took the hint and retrained as a copy editor and proofreader. As well as getting to work with some incredibly talented authors, I found that I also had time to resume my passion for writing stories.

That was over 20 years ago and since then I have published my heroic fantasy series, “The Chronicles of Arkadia”, the standalone novel, “A Call to Arms”, and an anthology of prize-winning short ghost stories called “Tales of Terror for a Dark Night”.

In May 2024 I signed a contract with Sapere Books for an initial 3-book series of Roman military adventures. I am delighted to say that the first book in the series, “Fortress of Steel”, was published in July and book 2, Forests of death, has also just been published. Book 3, Islands of mist, is scheduled for publication on the 23rd January 2026. I'm also thrilled to announce that the series will now be extended beyond book 3 and in fact I have just finished editing book 4.

I grew up on a diet of James Herbert and Stephen King books, before moving onto the fantasy genre and consuming everything written by the wonderfully talented David Gemmell and David Eddings amongst others. Now I tend to read historical fiction by people like Cornwell, Scarrow, Kane, Riches and Iggulden.

I currently live in the East of England, or Danelaw as it was once known after those pesky Vikings refused to go home. When I am not writing, I can usually be found riding my bike or skulking around an antiques centre reliving my distant youth.

If you would like to learn more about my books, please do get in contact – it is always great to hear from readers. I am also on Goodreads where you can view all my books and the anthologies to which I have contributed.

Thanks for stopping by.
